8 DAYS - 7 NIGHTS
Pick up at the airport. Transfer to the Itsandra Beach hotel* for check-in.
After a good night's rest, at 07h00, we will pick you up from the hotel to the south of Grande Comore (Oureveni) to take the boat to the UNESCO-protected island of Mohéli by 10h00 (approx). During your sea crossing, if you’re lucky, you’ll have the chance to see dolphins and discover marine life. Upon your arrival on the island, you will discover an amazing tropical landscape and the perfume of Ylang-Ylang. Enjoy a 2h drive through the coast, rainforest, and ocean view in the background. After this wonderful immersion, you will check in at The Laka Lodge Hotel* for the next 3 nights.

Over these 2 days, you will disconnect from the world and reconnect with yourself in an impressive atmosphere of peace and a tropical setting.
*Optional activities at Laka Lodge.

After three days of peace and tranquillity, we’ll immerse you in the community at the Itsamia bungalows by the sea. The isolated beaches of this small village on the island of Mohéli are the perfect place to observe the life cycle of these gentle giants. Every year, more than 20,000 green turtles nest on these beaches. Year after year, they return to the same beach where they hatched, to lay 100 golf ball-sized eggs to start/continue the cycle anew. It is one of the highest-density nesting sites in the world.
At night, after dinner, our guide will meet you to take you down to the beach to await the arrival of the mother turtles. This is a slow and natural process, which requires patience and silence. The mothers drag their 150 kg bodies up the steep beach in search of the right spot to nest.
*Note that the exact time of nesting depends on the tides. The guide will inform you at what time to be ready for the observation, which may be anytime from 8:00 pm to 2:00 am. The bungalows are built and operated by the local community as a development project. It is quite basic accommodation with bucket showers, but the rooms are equipped with private bathrooms, mosquito nets, and a fan.

Full of incredible memories, you will be prepared to go back to Grande Comore, where the legends of the north are waiting for you. At 06h00, you will be driven to the Mohéli port to catch the boat.
